Justice beyond Jails is a global campaign that calls attention to how much we rely on policing and incarceration to address gender-based violence (GBV). The campaign is grounded in sharing knowledge drawn from experiences of those who have experienced harm, and in highlighting strategies that support safety and justice – beyond jails. These approaches are based on care, community support, and feminist accountability.

Athena Network, The Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID), International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and International Women’s Rights Action Watch Asia Pacific (IWRAW-AP) have joined Just Futures Collaborative as partners in the campaign.

This campaign is centered on our shared goal of ending GBV in all its forms. It invites all of us working to eliminate GBV, including activists, researchers, funders, policymakers, government officials, and others, to critically reflect on the limits of carceral legal systems and to highlight known pathways to justice beyond incarceration

Justice beyond Jails will run from 18 March to 18 September 2026.

The campaign features interactive narratives, publications, webinars, collaborative learning spaces, a social media campaign and more. These will be introduced over the next few months. You can acces each of these below.
